A personal YouTube channel is available to everyone who joins YouTube as a member. The channel is used as the home page for the user’s account.
After the user enters and approves the information, the channel will display the account name, a personal description, public videos uploaded by the member, and any user information entered by the member.
If you are a YouTube member, you can customize the background and color scheme of your personal channel and control certain information displayed on it.
Businesses can also have channels. These channels are different from personal channels because they can have multiple owners or managers. YouTube members can open new business channels using their branded accounts.
How to set up a personal YouTube channel
Anyone can view YouTube without an account. however, if you intend to upload videos, add comments or make playlists, you will need to create a YouTube channel (free). Here’s how.
Sign in to YouTube with your Google account.
Try any action that requires a channel, such as uploading a video.
At this point, you will be prompted to create a channel (if one has not already been created).
Review the information displayed, including your account name and image, and confirm that it is correct to create your channel.
YouTube accounts use the same login information as Google accounts, which means it’s easier to create a YouTube channel if you already have a Google account. If you use other Google services (e.g. Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Albums, Google Cloud Drive, etc.), you can open a YouTube channel without signing up for a new Google account.
How to set up a business channel
Individuals can control a branded account using a different name than their Google account and can grant access and manage channels to other YouTube members. To open a new business channel, do the following
Log in to your YouTube account.
Open the YouTube channel switcher page.
Click Create New Channel to open a new business channel.
Enter the brand account name in the space provided, and then click Create.
How to watch a channel
A channel is a member’s personal profile on YouTube, similar to other social media sites. Select another member’s name to access that person’s personal channel. You will be able to see all of that member’s videos as well as any content that the user has selected as a favorite, and any other content they want to share (such as favorite channels).
YouTube provides a place to browse YouTube channels, where you can view popular channels and subscribe to them (if you choose). Whenever you visit YouTube, your subscriptions are listed to make it easy to access your favorite channels.
